Volvo B10M Buses and Coaches

In 1981 the Volvo B10M mid-engined chassis replaced the 15 year old B58 undefloor bus chassis. While the B58 came to New Zealand only towards the end of its life the B10M was ordered by NZRRS for coaches and Auckland Regional Council for trolley buses almost immediately after being launched. Almost all Volvo B10M coaches in New Zealand have tag axles. Unless noted below the coach will have a tag axle.

Auckland Regional Authority Volvo B10M CityLine 1299 or 1300

Two Volvo B10M 2-axle buses with VoV B45D bodies built by Coachwork International were ordered by Auckland Regional Authority in 1985. Licence fees associated with fitting the VoV bodiy to a non-German chassis lead to the volume order for 88 buses going to MAN. These are the only Volvo buses to receive the VoV body. Like other ARA buses purchased in the 1980s legal owner was Auckland Regional Council.

Three B10Ms ex-Australia with Custom Coach B53F bodies. Autralian owners were Westbus and then Brisbane Bus Lines. The registations on the buses were Westbus m/o 7076/BBL80 Westbus m/o 7068/BBL87 Westbus m/o 7134/BBL89. I have not been able to match up Austrlian registrations with NZ registrations.

The original bodies were Hainje B41D. The buses were scrapped by Joure in Holland the chassis components shipped to T&I Engines, Stillwater, NSW.
